A relic of times past when sheep ran over the back country. Built from poles and corrugated iron, it is well worth a visit to explore. Situated a few kilometres from the North Otago township of Omarama. Now under the care of the Department of Conservation.

Before the times of wide spread available electricity, it meant that the sheep were shorn by blade shearers and were mustered from the hills by horseback or foot. Ironic when this district is now one of the country's source of hydo generated electricity.

A look back in time at New Zealand's farming history.

Created en plein air with a palette knife and pure oil paint.

Oil on board. 390x270mm

Ready to hang as is or with a frame of your choice.
